PARDUBICE REGION

The Pardubice region has four districts: Pardubice, Chrudim, Svitavy and Ústí nad Orlicí. It is mainly known for its sports – ice hockey and racing. Every year, many races take place in Pardubice and they attract visitors from all over the world. Pardubice lies at the confluence of the Elbe and Chrudimka. Králický Sněžník, a national nature reserve where the Morava River springs, is worth a visit and a nice hike. There are also many castles such as Litomyšl, Pardubice

and Slatiňany. If not those, you may want to visit Potštejn Castle or Kunětická Mountain. You will also find here the Protected Landscape Areas: PLA Orlické hory, Železné hory and Zdar nad Sázavou, to name a few.

GINGERBREAD COTTAGE

Pardubice is famously recognized for its gingerbread production. If you are traveling with children (but certainly not only for children!), be sure to stop at the Gingerbread Cottage, where you will find a gingerbread museum. There, children may learn and ponder about the unusual interpretation of the gingerbread house fairytale, whereas adults may learn more about the production of gingerbread. In the kingdom of gingerbread, they also offer accommodation located just a short walk from the museum at the foot of Kunětická Mountain.

ČERTOVINA: HELL

In the village of Čertovina lies the underground realm of Hell, a unique span of space unparalleled anywhere else in the world. The exceptional structure reaches a depth of 12 meters below the ground, where there are hundreds of meters of footpaths and caves, and then eight meters to reach the heavens. Here, travelers may receive a tour, or you can even sleep in Hell, directly in Lucifer’s lair, or wander around to the local wine bar.

NOTABLE VISITS

Other lodging accommodations include the Slunečný Dvůr Farm or Klokočov Castle.

You can also go to the Pardubice region for a specialized culinary experience. We highly recommend going to Zběhlík for lunch, for example, where food is prepared only from the local fresh ingredients. Another highly recommended eatery is the restaurant Sezemický Dům, which is just 5 minutes from Pardubice and is known for its classic cuisine and atmosphere. Another great restaurant, which boasts for their fresh ingredients received strictly from the locals – as they themselves acquire materials only from “friends, friends of friends, and local suppliers,” is Bistro na Proseku.

Thus, for fun, sports, classic culinary experiences, or for a kid-friendly trip, we definitely recommend a segue trip to Pardubice.
